Even today recognizes remnants of the brewery's past. Most clearly in our machine hall with the beautiful clinker floor and the striking steam engine. More discreet is the indication in the library with the typical meter-high windows. Our favorite place, however, is in the former cooling ship, where in those days the wort was cooled and purified. In 1996, however, after 130 years, the last beer was brewed in the Enge district. Hürlimann merged with Feldschlösschen and operations in Zurich ceased. The impressive and promising site, however, remained. Thus, the architectural firm Althammer Hochuli developed a site development model for the industrial wasteland. It took almost 10 years of planning, elaboration and conversion before none other than Google moved into the Hürlimann site, making Zurich the largest Google research and development location outside the USA. Almost at the same time, renovations started for the first thermal spa in Zurich fed by an existing spring, the Hürlimannbad + Spa.

Almost at the same time, the hotel construction started. Turicum Lifestyle Hospitality Management AG developed the B2 concept - boutique and bookmark hotel - combining industrial chic, timeless design classics and references to its rich history to create an urban sleeping experience, designed by interior designer Ushi Tamborriello. The heart of the hotel is the impressive Library with over 33’000 books, where guests are treated to culinary delights throughout the day.
