Zurich in summer? That means putting on your sunglasses, packing your swimming trunks and jumping into the cool water. The city has an enviable selection of lidos – charming outdoor swimming areas that are more than just places to splash around. They are meeting places, retreats and, in the evenings, sometimes even trendy bars. And best of all, many of these hotspots are within easy walking distance of the B2 Hotel.

1. Seebad Enge – Riviera feeling with Alpine views

Walking distance from the B2 Hotel: approx. 20 minutes, approx. 5 minutes by bike

Seebad Enge is like a mini-break on the Mediterranean – only with better water. Wooden jetties, a lounge atmosphere and a bistro serving delicious snacks make this place a hotspot for sun lovers and trend-conscious swimmers. Yoga on the pier? You can do that here too. And the sunsets with unplugged concerts right on Lake Zurich are priceless anyway.

2. Mythenquai lido – sandy beach in the city

Yes, you read that right: sandy beach. Mythenquai offers a real beach feeling in the middle of Zurich. Family-friendly, spacious and equipped with barbecue areas, it is perfect for a relaxing summer's day. Those who prefer swimming to sizzling will enjoy the 50-metre lanes in the lake.

3. Unterer Letten river pool – hip, urban, wonderfully cool

Unterer Letten is Zurich's answer to Berlin's Spree riverbank – only cleaner. This is where the creative scene meets to swim, chill out and see and be seen. The current of the Limmat creates a natural lazy river effect. And the kiosk offerings? Surprisingly good.

4. Upper Letten river pool – architecture meets cooling off

A little further upstream is the Upper Letten – with its iconic diving tower, wooden deck and industrial charm. The brave can take the plunge into the cool water. Those who prefer to watch can treat themselves to an ice cream and enjoy the colourful hustle and bustle.

5. Tiefenbrunnen lido – classic beauty

Tiefenbrunnen is a classic among Zurich's lidos. Well-tended sunbathing lawns, a diving tower and a restaurant with lake views make it the ideal choice for those who like things a little quieter. And: the sunrise here is magical – it's worth getting up early.

Extra tip: Lidos by night

In Zurich, some lidos transform into trendy bars in the evening. Our favourites for a relaxed sundowner, cool tunes and an incomparable atmosphere:

Frauenbadi & Männerbadi

Central, historic and with a twist: the Frauenbadi (meaning : women’s lido) and the Männerbadi (meaning : men’s lido) are not only architectural gems, but also transform into three of the city's coolest open-air bars in the evening. Separated by gender during the day, united in the evening in the name of aperitifs.

Conclusion: Zurich swims better

Whether lake or river, urban or close to nature – Zurich's lidos are as diverse as the city itself. And from the B2 Hotel, the bathing fun begins right on your doorstep. So don't forget your sunscreen, pack your swimming trunks and off you go. Summer won't wait.
